Doing moisture deep conditioning treatments regularly is crucial for maintaining soft, healthy hair but finding store-bought DCs in Kenya can be difficult and costly. Here are three quick and easy homemade recipes* that work great for your hair and are easy on your pocket.
1. Honey-Avocado
source |
1/2 cup Conditioner** (I use Tresemme Naturals)
2 Tablespoons Honey
1/2 Avocado*** - mashed and sieved
2 tablespoons of Avocado Oil (you can substitue with Coconut or Olive Oil)
2. Coconut-Shea
source |
1/2 Cup Conditioner** (I use Tresemme Naturals)
2 Tablespoons whipped Shea Butter (I use Shea butter mixes like Harvest of Sunshine or Awali Naturals but you can also use melted pure shea)
2 Tablespoons Honey
2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil (you can substitute with Avocado or Olive Oil)
3. Olive-Banana
source |
1/2 cup Conditioner** (I use Tresemme Naturals)
1 Very Ripe Banana*** (mashed or blended and sieved)
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil (can be substituted with Avocado or Coconut Oil)
1 Tablespoon Honey
How To:
1. Mix
2. Apply to head and cover with shower cap or cling film
3. Leave 30 minutes
4. Rinse thoroughly with cool water
* as the recipes contain fresh ingredients, they should be used immediately after mixing to prevent them going off
** conditioners are optional in these recipes but as they contain conditioning agents such as BTMS, centimonium chlorides and Polyquats, their conditioning proporties are enhanced by the other ingredients
*** avocados and bananas can leave bits in hair so make sure they are thoroughly mashed and sieved prior to using
